Question about PAL NES carts.
20. Mar 2007 at 20:57

How come on most PAL carts, the music and sound effects sound different from the NTSC NES carts?

Sometime (most times/always?) the music and the game itself is alittle slower. Best way for you to test it is to download an emulator that supports both NTSC and PAL mode and try both NTSC and PAL ROMs Smiley

Hmmm, why does it do that? It can't be because of the emulators I've used.

You mean the slowdown? The CPU on the PAL NES is a tad bit slower than the US NES. I'm not 100% sure why, but i'm pretty sure it has something to do with the 50/60Hz issue (NTSC uses 60Hz, PAL uses 50Hz).

Anyone know a good site that has most the PAL rom's?  Or better yet, anybody have the rom's that there would be willing to send me so I don't have to search for them all and do a bunch of downloads Huh

You dont belive me eh? hehe Tongue

NTSC NES = 1.7897725MHz
PAL NES    = 1.7734474MHz

Its not much, but you will notice slower preformance in most games. Some are fully playable without any problem tho, some doesnt even work at all.

the pal nes is a bit slower because it has to show 50fps while the ntsc version has to show 60, so this version has to be a little bit faster.
