Whats about copyrights of NES manuals and roms?
24. Mar 2007 at 16:51

Hi!
I would like to know how it is the thing with copyrights of NES manuals - did they ever got some and did they still got somthing like copyrights???

I mean pages like replacementdocs.com offer scans of manuals for download - is that legal?

And what is with roms available through internet and the reproductions?

Did anybody got some info about that stuff?  Huh

NintendoAGE.com has scans of ever USA manual, and 100's for PAL manuals as well.  We have the whole manual scanned front to the back too.  You can find sites that have all the rom's, but most well established NES sites won't have them, cause they don't want to get shut down by the Big N.

I guess the scans won't hurt that much but when you start reproducing them and sell them to people you can have some problems (like under a company name). Games have copyrights but manuals also, everything that came with the game, also maps and such.

Like Hakan says, everything is copyright, but so far the ROM's are the only thing they seem to really get angry about cause they are selling them again via the Wii's vitural console now.  So now all these olds games have new life again, and are bringing in new revenue for all the companies involved.  I say within a few years you won't be able to finds ROM's are hardly any website.  I would get them while you can to be honest.
