Firehawk European release
01. Jul 2007 at 23:55

This game is so friggin hard to find, it was the last Codemasters release in Europe as far as I know. I've managed to find two copies lately though... found a boxed one today. I just fear that it'll be impossible to find a manual but I'm still a very happy guy today (been looking for this release for years)

yep they all came with a poster... Dizzy also had some sort of map included. Fortunately I've almost reached the goal when it comes to Codies releases, man they're a bitch... Smiley

Nice pickup man, I also had this one on my watch list and was thinking of picking it up, but been buying too much lately.  Btw, are these actually PAL-B compatible?  I have several of them and I'm pretty sure they didn't work on my PAL-B machine, yet German sellers and collectors claim that Micro Machines, for example, is PAL-B...or was it also released in PAL-B format?

Codemasters releases, including the American Camerica releases, works on a PAL-B unit... so yes Smiley

Could it be that later NES toasters (or specific PAL-B units such as HOL or so) were incompatible though?  I'm wondering because I tested Mig 29, Ultimate Stuntman, and Dizzy or Micro Machines (all UK cart form) on a PAL-B toaster (I think it was a HOL system) a year or two ago, and I got the flashing screen for each one even though the system had hardly any blinking problems when playing other PAL-B carts.  I'll see if I can find another HOL console when I'm back from vacation and see if I can get the carts to work...it could be that the contacts are just really dirty since they were cart only.

Speaking of Codemasters PAL games, you can get problems if you play them on a modified region free NES. I tried Micro Machines on one, when you get to the menu the power will be cut. I recently tried Cosmic Spacehead, it would even start. I cleaned it really well, but it would start. I also tried my 2nd copy, that didnt work either. I tried it on another NES that wasnt modified, there it worked fine.

I wasn't aware that this game was that hard to find. Got mine for around 30-40 kr ($5 or so) from a swedish game collector a few years back. Wink After reading this topic I had to dig up my copy to see what was included.  The condition is kinda crappy but I do have the manual and, what I found more interesting, I also have a trouble shooting guide that includes languages such as danish and swedish (but also english, french and others). Before seeing this I didn't think these games were sold here in Sweden, but this kinda implies that they were.

I doubt they were sold here, but they might've intended to (wanted to whatever)

Now sell me that manual Smiley

I think they were. I remember a friend had a Game Genie and Micro Machines when we were kids. Might be that his grandmother bought it in England for him tho.

I also remember playing MIG-29 at a friend's house when i was a kid. However, i recall it was the gold cart so it must (?) have been the US version. On the other hand, what i remember, it was just to put it right into the console and play, no game key or simular were used. Then again, many of the early NES machines that were sold here were region free so that might explain it Smiley

Some Sachen games were sold here, so if people took the trouble to import those, why not Codemasters games too? Smiley

I have a Camerica Supersonic with a Scandinavian manual (I think Swedish), so if Camerica accessories were sold there, it's also likely that the games were, too.
