NES 2 (toploader) on a PAL TV!?
07. Aug 2007 at 12:12

I have borrowed a NES 2 (the toploader). I've been trying to connect it to my PAL TV thorugh the RF-modulator, but even though the pictrure seem to work just fine, there is a big problem about the sound! Sad

Is it even possible to connect this console to a PAL TV and get working picture and sound? Gaaaah!

Why did Nintendo remove the composit connection on the NES 2, damn them! Sad

Survey says....cheaper!  I think there is a French version of the Top Loader that has the AV plugs.

Hmmm, cheaper yes. Stupid of them though!

French version? I haven't heard about a European toploader at all... And the french version of the original NES doesnt even come with AV plugs, it has some kind of fake RGB port!

Anyway, I guess it's almost impossible to get this to work. I think the only way is to buy the original NES. I am also planning to get a Famicom, so I guess it's best to buy the AV Famicom model.

I've seen some AV Modded original Famicoms on eBay. Does they give you the same quality as a AV Famicom?

You can find "how to" articles very easily on the internet, which explain how to mod the toploader for AV use.

Took me some time but finally this guide was found:
http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/nes2avmod.htm

I guess I'll have to try it. Or I guess I'll let my father do the soldering, since he is much more experienced! Smiley  Embarrassed

Well thanks for the tips nad wish me luck!

Now we have done the modification, without succes!  Cry

The RF-output still works, but there is no signal to the new AV port we've made. And strangely, not even sound!!  Shocked

Has anyone done this before me, and succeded? Any help would be appriciated...!

Just wanted to chime in and say that while there isn't a European release of the toploader, there is an Australian one.  I assume that the output will be compatible with all PAL TVs.  They're fairly common on the Australian eBay, so it might be worth a look! Wink
