looking for broken cartridges
12. Oct 2007 at 16:47

i'm trying to put together an art project and i need 151 nes cartridges.  i thought that if anyone has any non-working or broken cartridges that they wouldn't mind getting rid of then i'll buy them for like a quarter each.

LET ME KNOW.

You may have a problem.  NES cartridges don't really ever break or tear up.  In all my years of collecting I have only had like 3-4 that actually wouldn't work.  Your best bet would be to try and find some cheap Super Mario/Duck Hunt carts.

Agreed, and the system is indestructable as well!  I once bought an NES for $1 because it had *I kid you not* been dropped in a lake.  Works like a charm.  Try THAT with a PS3...

You best bet for carts is eBay, I've seen lots of SMB/DH and Gyromite by the dozens, usually a buck or two a piece.  Kind of a waste, though, if they are going to be destroyed.

I don't have a story that good, but my current primary NES unit is one I found in a gutter on the side of the road one day while I was out for a run.  I just gave it a decent cleaning and it worked like new.

It's kind of funny, but the copy of Final Fantasy that I played all the way through has a hole clean through it.  Obviously it missed the PCB, but it's great how much of a beating these games can take.  That's why I never really got into CD or DVD-based systems.  Too much focus on condition to even play it.

Do you need the PCBs (the boards inside) or can you handle empty cases.   If you can handle empty cases, do you want the screws put back in them (I have regular screws and security screws)

While I was making Sudokus I ended up with lots of empty cases since most of my donors were 5-screw games, but I wanted all the the numbered greys to be 3-screw (so I have quite a few 5-screw cases left over).

I also have lots of carts that have serious damage to them like the plastic is cracked, discolored, melted or the sticker has been completely destroyed.

I doubt I have 150 though.  But maybe 50.  Shipping from Canada would make it pretty expensive though.  You're looking at a minimum of $20 in shipping, probably more.

yeah i just need the cases, but the whole case.  doesn't matter if they are put back together, i can superglue then back together if need be.  id actually prefer them to be empty cases then i wouldn't have to worry that a game is being destroyed.  i don't mind paying the shipping, just let me know how much.

I have 42 empty cases (screws and PCBs removed) at the moment.  I'll send you a Private Message.

I have 150 copies of silent service that I would sell for $1 a piece shipped.  Minimum purchase of 20 so I can cover the shipping costs.

If you want 100 of them I'd sell them for $80 shipped.

I have a Cobra Triangle that I can't get working.

If for some reason you get 80 from Bryan and still need one more for icing on the cake, let me know.
