probably not a bid deal, but it is for me.  finally got a rob after wanting one for the last 20 years.  won it in an auction, also got nintendo power #1 with it.

are there any faqs out there on rob?  not exactly sure how to get him working.

I couldn't figure it out either, I figured he was broken and got rid of him. Big mistake on my part!

We bought two ROBS from a flea market once--they worked for a little while, but offered little enjoyment aside from novelty value.  NP #1 I found at a good will sale years ago, but it disintegrated earlier this year Sad

In real life, I'm a librarian (no kidding!).  Some tips for keeping NP#1 (or any other magazine) pristine:

Low light only.  No sunlight, no exposed flourescent or incandescent bulbs.  It causes fading and breakdown of the paper.

Wear white cotton gloves.  Oils break down the paper.

Remember that it was meant to be recycled after a month, so the binding is not as strong as a book.  Don't break the spine if you can avoid it, and never tug on the paper.  If the binding feels like it is coming lose, use something more precise to turn the pages, like tweezers.

Store it in a closed, flat, horizontal position.

Oh, and if you must scan it, be very careful - remember my comment about bright light damaging the paper and fading the ink?

Good find!  Good luck!

I hear ya on the R.O.B.  I only just started NES collecting in the last month (I've been posting regularly on another NES forum and just came here today) and bought an R.O.B. off of an old collector in town who is selling off his stuff.  I don't think I've ever been happier than the night I brought my new little robot friend home and set him up in my game room.  I've wanted one since I was a kid and I finally have him.  Congrats on your accomplishment also!
