Best Mario Hack?

So I understand that best is a matter of taste, but when I say best, I mean most acclaimed for greatness and originality. From what I've read, "Mario Adventure" seems like a prime candidate, but it can't be put to cart Cry

What would be the next best to this game that can be put to cart? I gather that Outlands is the best for the Zelda series and maybe Metroid X for the Metroid series? I have yet to see any for Kirby except, "Kirby's Nuts," which I haven't tried yet.

Jan 2008 at 19:12 I'm no programmer, but I've been told there's something about the ROM that does not allow it to be put to cart. It's a damn shame, I played it on my emu and it would be great to see in a NES cart!

Recently, I was thoroughly impressed with Extra Mario Bros.

I grabbed the IPS patch, but haven't played it yet.

Oh yeah and Mario Adventure is really cool, I think it's problem had to do with the way the cart hardware (MMC3's scanline counter) was used. Why it works in emulators though, I'm not sure.
