Alright, what the crappity smack
19. Sep 2008 at 17:37

I got my Famicom today. I hooked it up. First time I turned on the TV and set it to channel 95, I turned the power on. I needed to blow in the first game I tried on it, which was Salamander, it was in full color, and the sound was accurate and everything. I tried maybe 5 carts. I turned off the machine and the TV for a little, so I could take a break and have a snack and a drink. I went back into my room to play it some more, but the next game I tried, I turned it on, and this time it was in black and white. What the hell! What is this? Has anyone else had this problem? And when I turned it off, I heard some loud sound which I guess was from what was supposed to be a non-cable TV channel on there. So I turned it back on, it was still in black and white. Heard the same noise when I turned it off. I tried taking the cartridge out and re-inserting it. Still in black and white, so I tried setting the TV back to Channel 3, then turn it off. Turn it back on, set it back to channel 95, turn the machine on again. It's STILL IN BLACK AND WHITE. AND I STILL HEAR THAT ANNOYING SOUND WHEN I TURNED IT OFF. It wasn't like this an hour and a half ago! It was in color, and the games I had tried before this one were working great, and were in color like they were supposed to be.

Maybe it's just the game. Did you again try one of the games that worked? There's only one Famicom game that's in black and white, and I'm certain you didn't pop that one complete unaware. Sounds like the connection might be weak, or you might want to try another channel.

I think I found a solution to the problem (for now). Stay tuned.
