Anyone know?...
27. Sep 2008 at 20:22

Does anyone know what region or country this code is from (NES-ZZ-GPS)?  Found this on this auction site...
http://www.miau.pt/categorias/categoria.jsp?cat_id=10&parent_cat_id=0&level=1

I can't read what country this site is from so I was curious if anyone could help.

I have heard that -GPS was the final code that Nintendo used and was just a global code.

AFAIK the first documented GPS game was found by a Scandinavian collector (jajaja) but I don't remember if it came from the Scandinavian region.  It's been thought to represent Game Pak Software (GPS), and placed on English boxes, manuals, etc, printed for Europe-wide release with excess stock of games etc.  That's why GPS carts don't necessarily come in GPS boxes/manuals.  Another hypothesis was that GPS stood for Germany, Portugal, and Spain, as most of them were found in Portugal/Spain...and in a matter of fact, the auction site that axewieldingdwarf found this game on is a Portuguese site.  The only GPS game that I found came with NOE box and manual, and was found in Germany...so who knows, maybe it does stand for Germany, Portugal, and Spain.

I always believed it was a universal scandinavian code .
Something like EEC is for europe (west)

Portugal/Spain/Germany makes no sense Huh

portugal and spain i can understand but Germany??
Germans always have there stuff translated in German only no english also it makes no sense in transporting.
Spain and portugal are neighbours but Germany is not close by for transport.

SIDE NOTE: why doesn't give nintendo explanation about these things??/

I mean if you ask a normal company a question the respond normal and give awnsers..
(unless its a company secret Wink)

But nintendo allways acts like there company is area51 Huh

i have that game with i belive that code.

dont know what it stands for but i live in australia and a fair few of the games have that code on them, doesn't explain much tho cos i snagged most from ebay or pawn shops or markets so there is every chance they were personally bought over by new people moving in to the country

I'm in french and it's a fact that many european games are only been sold in spain and germany (i don't know for Portugal).
I don't remember this game was sold in France, but it's common on ebay germany and ebay spain
For example Willow and Panic Restaurant  has been only sold in Spain and Germany.
But STADIUM EVENTS isonly avalaible in Germany and Sweden.
And Lolo 3 seems to be sold only in Spain and Sweden
BARKER BILL'S TRICK SHOOTING, only spain version exist in Europe.
...
GPS could also be : Gibraltar, Portugal, Spain
