Recently purchased from a friend a NES, 6 controllers, a joypad controller, 2 Light Zappers, 40+ Games to include TMNT, Marios 1 -3, Dragon Warrior 1+2 with box and maps, Crysalis, Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear Solid, to name a few popular titles, for a 100$USD. Quite a steal in my opinion, my buddy really didnt know what we had.
Few Questions... The NES takes multiple tries to run, but once running runs perfectly. When attempting to run, there is static sound and a glitchy looking screen and the power light flashes. When the game runs fine out of 100 tries, the power light is stable and the picture is excellent. I am not using AV cables. What could possibly be the problem, and where or what do I need to purchase parts?
I went a head and bought a 72 pin connector to replace the one inside as ive been told it has never been replaced, but beyond that I don't know what other issues it might have. Any suggestions feedbacks or "needed parts" would be awesome.
And whats the proper liQuid/solution for cleaning games and the system, and the method? Are air dusters, water and cloth towels ok? I have the ancient NES cleaning kit in the box but its a little worn and dated.
Ive been browsing the forums and also noticed info on the lockout chip and people removing it, what is this, how do you remove it and what benefit does that give?
Also, in the games purchased was a black NES cart that looked different from all the others, and was called Puzzle! by American Video Entertainment. Just curious if this is one of those pirate carts. Havent plugged it in yet.
Sorry for the n00bish Questions just want to get this started off in the right direction for the years of enjoyment to come. I appreciate any and all feedback and many thanks to the designers of this awesome site and forums.
