powerpak problem
31. May 2009 at 20:47

Anybody here use the Powerpak? I've been having some problems with it and I was wondering if anybody here could help (Unfortunately, the wesite that develops the PowerPak, www.retrousb.com, does not have a forum.). I can load the regular games like Super Mario Bros and Mega Man just fine. My problem is I can't seem to load games that require a battery-backup. Whenever I try to load games like Legend of Zelda, Dragon Warrior, Baseball Stars, or Final Fantasy, my game freezes. So I assume I'm not loading the .sav file correctly. After I click on the .nes file I want to play, I go to "Load Battery RAM" and find 8KBsave.sav (which I just downloaded from the website) and then I click on "Start Game." but the game still freezes. Am I missing an important step? Do I have a corrupted compactflash card and/or powerpak?

Good question, I really wouldn't know the answer, maybe Martin since he owns one.

Hey, you have probably figured this out already, but just in case: the problem is that the .sav files from the website are empty, and you can only load save files saved by zelda with zelda game, etc.  So, you must play the zelda game normally (by choosing start game instead of load battery ram), then, when you are done and have saved from Zelda, you must hold the reset button for 3-4 seconds and release and the cart will allow you to overwright the save file with your Zelda one.  Then, the next time you play Zelda, you can choose "Load battery ram" to reload it.
