Does anyone really still come here?
13. Jul 2009 at 14:48

I know I've never been an active member here, but I just decided to drop by again and see what's going on.  Seems pretty dead, probably no thanks to guys like me who can't find the time to visit a messageboard for a minute or two.  Well, I'm here at the moment.

Anyone still come here often?

Sadly the forum is suffering from lack of activity and the site hits have gone down roughly 50% the past year or so.

NintendoAge took a huge chunk out of the site for sure but as long as I enjoy making updates for the site, it'll stay active (online) Wink

Not on the weekends, but during the week yes.  I have scaled back my internet time a ton on the weekends anymore.

Well, good to see you Martin, NGD, and DNG.  I was concerned no one ever came around, and for whatever reason that bothered me.

Have you been struggling to update frequently, Martin?  I'm a busy guy, but I'm pretty good with visual arts.  If you ever need some original graphics done to help get a bigger pull for your site again, I'd love to throw my weight in with you folks for the sake of working for a fantastic site.  Here's some examples of what I've done recently:

http://revolver.arcticpalace.org/Moreimages/Drawings2009/Legendary-characterconc...

http://revolver.arcticpalace.org/Moreimages/Drawings2009/Blackout-Case-recolor70...

http://revolver.arcticpalace.org/vgf_rpg/backgrounds/snowgate800.png

I'd love to do an illustration or cartoon or something for any of your game reviews or articles.

My apologies if you'd rather talk about that sort of thing in private or in one of the other boards, not sure what your rules are like for discussion here, and as much as I should go and read whatever FAQ you've got up on the bored, I honestly would rather just wing it.

I'll try and hang around and possibly help make this place more active, although my own retro nintendo forum at vgf.com is  pretty inactive.  Hard to come by new content for old systems, mostly we just all post about exciting finds or remakes or whatever is related news, it seems like.

NGD, I can't help but see that your name comes up all throughout the community.  I respect what you've done for us all, and would like to say thanks.

Well it sure is a struggle sometime to get something done, there are just too many other things to do than working on a website. But I still try to have something new done every now and then, but weekly updates will never return, I don't have that much time to spend on the site.

Right now I'm looking for people interested in writing a small game spotlight. It's not really a review, cause you can't really review a NES game today, but a game spotlight is more like the writers memories of playing the game, what's good, bad and so on.

About the artwork... it would be awsome to have some artwork done for the game spotlights, but I'm not sure how it can be done. I am wondering if existing NES boxart could be remade with some sort of "artistic touch", that would be cool imo.

Maintaining regular site updates is a pain, I can agree.  I've never been a dependable webmaster, myself.

Doing a few pictures here and there of the game characters, sort of how older manuals used to have little cartoons of the heros and monsters every once in a while is mostly what I had in mind.  Don't be a stranger, and just drop me a line either here in the forum or at my email if you can, if you've got a request.  I can come up with a concept myself as long as you can digup a boxart or some screens of the game.  Smiley
