The Game Boy's 20th Anniversary!
03. Aug 2009 at 14:34

I'm a bit late, but it has just come to my notice that July 31st was the Game Boy's 20 Anniversary in North America.  Being the first truly successful handheld, it's a landmark occasion for handheld games and video games in general!  So congrats to Nintendo for 20 years of handheld supremacy in North America!

I often prefer to dig up versions of classic games released for the Game Boy.  With their alternate versions of levels, enemies, and bosses it's like playing a whole new take on the classic NES games I grew up with.  I'd especially like to give a nod to Capcom, especially, for their brilliant Game Boy adaptations.  Mega Man 5 for the Super Game Boy is still shockingly fresh and different from the main series on the NES, and their remixed boss lineups in the rest of the games are certainly a pleasant departure from the same-old, when I feel like revisiting the franchise.
