When I was a kid, my family had a gameboy, and the only game we ever played was Tetris.

So I guess I'm overcompensating, since I'm getting close to having a full US CIB gameboy collection. (I think I need about 30 boxes, x manuals, x carts)

I suppose the word "close" is relative, since I may never find some of the boxes I need.

Where do you have room for a massive collection like that?

That's pretty neat though. You should post a picture of your GB collection.

I saved space by building a unit that open so I can store the games on both sides.

Here's pics of the unit while closed:

And here's what it looks like when open:

The love ended when they stop supporting the original gameboy.

The original Gameboy system is grand. It had 16-bit graphics with only 4 colors display. The GBC was greater, it had an infared unit, which can communicate with other infared devices. I think it can also scan codes with that as well, along with send data. They drop that support and that is when GB stopped being great. I see people still playing it outside sometimes.

I had the original Gameboy for some time in early 1990s, and had mixed feelings about it. It was huge, required a lot of batteries, and, the worst thing about it, the screen was really bad, you barely could see moving things there. Nevertheless, it had great games, and later models (Pocket, Color) fixed these problems.

It was huge

Your kidding me right? Back then we had big pockets, I remember having pants with pockets on the knees. Eventually some r-tard at levis or whatever decided to advertise "micro pockets" for the obvious reasons, and even pockets in pockets. After that pants started to become extra tight.

Also during the 1980's along with "the black phenomenon"
many fashion trends had shirts, over coats, and various light geat with nice pockets. I would be walking around with a standard film camera in my front pocket, and nobody woould notice or cared. I remember jokes like "reach into my pocket and maybe you will fight something tight, squishy, or sweaty"
around the time they had the "reach into my pop-corn gag".

Also the original Gameboy was mad small compared to people carrying around magazines in their back pockets all the time.
We were soooo cool, compared to now where everybody is carry around a triqauter in their pockets, and wear those god auwful bluetooths devices that flashes on and off.

So do I, but who can deny the charm of the greenish-yellow "black and white' screen? I love that thing. I used to impress classmates in my Pre-K classes by "playing the game" with a darkened screen, claiming I could beat all the levels that way. And they believed me. Stud.

The love for the Gameboy died when they made the GBA, and changed the size of the Gameboy carts. It was the most stupiest move ever. The GBA was great, but once you drop support for the original gameboy, you pretty much damaged the entire system, Just to finish it off they released the NDS.

Gameboy had so much love and so many games to get into and play. I just wish that Nintendo would have rereleased the SGB/GBC line and focus on Gameboy 3d.

Gameboy 3d. GB3D along with the original size carts would have rocked so hard.
