Face Plate Glue on Original GB
12. May 2014 at 20:56

What type of glue is used to glue down the face plates on the original Gameboy? A couple of my Gameboy's face plates have fallen off and I need to know what type of glue is used.

You can't use regular glue and you can't even use the best kind of glue either. Just use crazy glue, this way, it will stick and is able to come off at the same time. If you use anything industrial, or stronger you might end up with an protector that can't even come off, if need replacing. That is how strong the glue can be. So I would just use crazy glue, so when it damage, it can be removed again.

I AM SERIOUS, YOU DO NOT WANT THE FACEPLACE TO STAY ON FOREVER.

Should you decide that you want the face plate to never come off, you can use some plastic epoxy. It will stick two pieces of plastic together for all eternity. Better buy a brand new face plate and glut that on if this is what you want.

That is just the thing. It will get scratched up, eventually and the person will want to replace the faceplate again. My advice, just use crazy glue. It will stick.

That is the reason why the faceplates came off, because Nintendo, knew people would want to replace them, so it sticks but not forever.
